Task 1: Perform 12-Mile Tactical Foot March

TEST CONDITIONS: Given the following equipment to wear/carry:

Wear the equipment IAW unit SOP or as directed by EIB board. The EIB board may direct modification of this list based on equipment on hand. Some units are issued Tactical Load Bearing assault Vests (TLBVs, ETLBVs). The equipment in the above list must weigh 40 pounds. Any combination of equipment may be used but must include Kevlarİ PASGT helmet, M16A1/M16A2 rifle or M4 carbine, rucksack, field protective mask, and pistol belt with LC-2 suspenders or ETLBV/TLBV assault vest. Total weight of equipment will not exceed 40 pounds.

TEST STANDARDS: Complete the 12-mile tactical foot march within three hours.

REFERENCE: FM 21-18 Foot Marches.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR POINT: Stopwatch, clipboard, pen, and FB Form 20-10-R.

SITE SETUP: Measure the 12-mile course for the foot march. The course should be relatively level terrain with the start point and the finish point at the same location. The route of the foot march must be clearly marked.

NOTE: The EIB board establishes standards for anyone participating in a road march. For example, spectators must be in the chain of command of the candidate and must be in the same uniform as the candidates minus weapon.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

"Let me have your attention. At this point, you are required to complete a 12-mile tactical foot march in 3 hours. All equipment must be properly worn, Kevlarİ PASGT helmet on your head, and your M4/M16 5.56mm rifle/carbine carried at the ready position. This means that the rifle must be ready for use against the enemy for example, high port, port, carrying handle, cradled in arms, sling arms, or inverted sling arms."
